How a Frustrated Health Coaching Team Finally Got Their Website Working
A Darlington-based health coaching and personal training service was stuck with a DIY website that generated zero enquiries in four years. After a structured content interview and rebuild, enquiries started coming through for both services within weeks of launch.
Years of zero enquiries to regular leads
Ranking 2-3 locally

About the Project
Client: Matt and Tina Robson
Business: Space to Thrive Health & Fitness
Location: Newton Aycliffe / Darlington / Barnard Castle, County Durham
Industry: Health coaching and personal training
Project type: Content-first rebuild from DIY site
Timeline: Launched July 2025, ongoing
Matt and Tina run Space to Thrive, combining health coaching with expert personal training across County Durham. What makes them different is their approach: they understand that lasting change happens when you address both mind and body together, not just workouts in isolation.
The Challenge
Four Years of Frustration With a DIY Site That Didn’t Work
Matt and Tina had been running their DIY website for four years. Four years of trying to update it themselves. Four years of zero enquiries coming through it.
The breaking point? Pure frustration. They knew what they were doing was valuable – Tina’s background in Psychology and NHS experience, combined with Matt’s personal training expertise, created something genuinely different in the health and fitness space. But their website didn’t show any of that.
The Authority Gap
Tina had transformed her own life through running and discovered the powerful connection between mental and physical wellbeing. Her Psychology studies revealed how crucial our surroundings and support systems are. Working in the NHS showed her how much misinformation exists around nutrition and health.
Matt had always wanted to be a personal trainer since school, finally pursuing his qualifications during COVID to join the business Tina had started.
These were qualified professionals with a unique approach. But their website looked like a hobbyist’s side project.
Zero Enquiries in Four Years
The website wasn’t earning its keep. Not a single enquiry in four years. It sat there, supposedly marketing their services, whilst they relied entirely on word-of-mouth and in-person conversations to grow.
They’d tried updating it themselves, but every attempt left them more frustrated. The message wasn’t landing. The positioning wasn’t clear. And potential clients were clicking away without getting in touch.

The Solution
Content Capture That Revealed the Real Differentiator
We started with what we always do: a structured founder interview to extract what was trapped in their heads.
That 60-minute conversation revealed something crucial that wasn’t on the old site at all – the why behind Space to Thrive. This wasn’t just another personal training service or generic health coaching. This was about creating the right physical and mental space for sustainable change.
Building Around the Mind+Body Positioning
The interview uncovered Tina’s journey – running as a lifeline through difficult times, the Psychology studies, the NHS frustration with surface-level advice that ignored the psychological side of lasting change. It revealed Matt’s delayed dream of becoming a PT and how COVID created the space to finally pursue it.
We structured the entire site around this differentiator: environmental psychology meets practical fitness. Not workouts in isolation. Not diet plans without context. Real change that addresses both mind and body.
Clear Service Structure and Location Coverage
The old site was vague about what they actually offered and where they worked. We clarified the service split (health coaching and personal training), explained their approach in plain English, and made it obvious they covered Newton Aycliffe, Darlington, and Barnard Castle.
We also made the enquiry process friction-free: a clear “I’m Ready” call-to-action leading to a simple assessment form.

The Results
From Zero to Regular Enquiries
The difference was immediate. The first enquiry came through within weeks of the new site launching. Then more followed – for both health coaching and personal training. After years of nothing from their DIY site, they now have a website that actually generates business.
Strong Local Search Visibility
Search Console data shows them ranking 2-3 locally for searches like “pilates barnard castle”, “thrive barnard castle”, and “yoga near me”. They’re appearing for “personal trainers near me” and picking up traffic for both Darlington and Barnard Castle.
Two “Aha!” Moments
The first was seeing the quality of the new site compared to what they’d been struggling with. Professional. Clear. Credible.
The second was when that first enquiry came through from the website. After four years of nothing, suddenly the site was working for them instead of being something they had to fight with.
