How an Early Upwork Project Still Generates Enquiries 6+ Years Later

A community sports centre in Ireland needed a website they could manage themselves without constant developer support. We built a straightforward WordPress site in 2018/19 focused on clarity, local SEO, and client autonomy. It’s still performing in 2025 – generating consistent enquiries with strong organic search traffic.

About the Project

Client: Leixlip Amenities Centre
Location: Leixlip, County Kildare, Ireland
Industry: Community sports centre and gym (not-for-profit)
Project type: WordPress website rebuild for client self-management
Timeline: 2018/19 (via Upwork)

Leixlip Amenities Centre is a community sports facility offering gym membership, fitness classes, all-weather pitches, an indoor hall, and rooms for hire. As a not-for-profit sporting organisation, they needed a cost-effective website they could update themselves.

The Challenge

A community facility that needed independence, not ongoing support

As a community sports centre, Leixlip Amenities needed a website that would:

  • Be easy to manage and update

They couldn’t rely on developers for every content change. Class schedules change, facilities get updated, opening hours shift – they needed to handle this themselves.

  • Clearly present multiple facilities and booking systems

The centre offers gym membership, fitness classes, pitch hire, and room bookings – each with different booking systems (SportsKey, Ashbourne Management, BookaPitch). The site needed to make sense of this without confusion.

  • Work for local search

As a community facility, they needed people in Leixlip and surrounding Kildare areas to find them when searching for gyms, sports facilities, or fitness classes.

This was an early Upwork project with a straightforward brief: build something they could run independently.

The Solution

  • WordPress + Beaver Builder for true client autonomy

We built the site on WordPress with Beaver Builder, specifically chosen because it gives non-technical teams real control over their content.

  • Clear information architecture

Separate pages for each facility type (Gym, Indoor Hall, All-Weather Pitches, Rooms), dedicated sections for fitness classes and membership options, comprehensive FAQs covering common questions.

  • Linked booking systems

Rather than trying to build complex integrations, we simply linked to their existing booking platforms. Each facility page has clear calls-to-action directing people to the appropriate booking system.

  • Local SEO foundation

Optimised titles and structure for local searches (“gym Leixlip”, “sports facilities Kildare”), clear location information and contact details, content structured for community searches.

  • Built for independence

The entire point was client autonomy. Beaver Builder’s visual editing meant they could update content, add classes, change schedules, and modify pages without needing developer support.

The Results

Still performing 6+ years later with minimal intervention

This site launched in 2018/19 as an early Upwork project. The data from 2025 tells the story:

Consistent enquiries year after year
The contact forms continue to generate steady enquiries for memberships, facility bookings, and class information.

68% of traffic from organic search
Over two-thirds of new users find the site through search engines – proof that the local SEO foundation still works.

Consistent weekly users
The site maintains hundreds of active users per week from the local community, with strong traffic from Ireland throughout 2025.

Client maintains it independently
They’ve run the site themselves for years, exactly as intended. Updates happen when they need to happen, without waiting for developer availability.

Long-term proof of approach
Six years of consistent performance proves the fundamentals were right: clear structure, solid local SEO, and client autonomy.

What Our Clients Say

Open speech marks We had a great experience working together with Mitchell Digital as we developed a new website for UTASS. Due to Kane’s experience and knowledge, he was able to suggest the best approach for the web design and functionality to ensure that we got the most out of the site for our organisation and for our community. Our queries were dealt with quickly and efficiently and we felt in safe hands as we worked through the various steps to bring the new site to fruition. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Mitchell Digital to others. Thank you!
